How long does a landlord in DC have to return my security deposit?

Under D.C. Code § 42-3502.17 and the related Security Deposit Act regulations, the landlord generally has 45 days after the tenancy ends to either return the deposit (with any interest due) or notify you in writing that they intend to withhold it. Review your lease and keep a forwarding address on file.

What does Think Maids include in a move-out clean?

Move-out cleaning includes the inside of appliances, cabinets, drawers, and closets, plus interior windows, blinds, and baseboards, along with standard surface, bathroom, and floor cleaning. Full wall washing is not included.

Does the home need to be empty?

Yes. For a move-out clean, the home must be empty and utilities must be on. If the unit is not ready, the appointment cannot proceed as scheduled and the cancellation fee applies.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?

Yes. Many DC and Northern Virginia buildings require a COI before a cleaning company can enter. Request one when you book or email support@thinkmaids.com.

Do you offer a re-clean if something was missed?

Yes. Move jobs include a re-clean guarantee. If an item on the agreed scope was missed, we return to correct it. Think Maids also offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Do you clean for move-in as well as move-out?

Yes. In addition to move-out cleaning, we offer move-in cleaning so you can start fresh in a new DC or Northern Virginia home.
